The Challenge

We walk on the roof of a hidden planet every day without ever looking down. Without ever wondering. Beneath our feet lies an invisible, teeming wilderness – a fragile architecture of fungal networks, subterranean predators, and intricate chemical processes that sustain all life on earth. Yet, in the classroom, soil science is reduced to static diagrams, dry charts, and abstract chemistry calculations. For vocational students training to shape our future landscapes, this disconnect is critical: you cannot steward what you cannot see.

The Solution

We turned the earth inside out.

Building on the acclaimed documentary Onder het Maaiveld, we developed the Planet Soil interactive learning module— transforming standard tablets and smartphones into underground exploration devices. Students descend into a macro-scale “soil-safari”, stress-test drainage across diverse soil and weather types, and diagnose soil health through interactive spatial forensics. The soil ceases to be inert dirt; it becomes an active, living organism.

Cinematic Storytelling (EMS Films)
Stunning footage from the theatrical film “Onder Het Maaiveld” anchors the teaching package, establishing an immediate sense of scale and visual wonder before students dive into scientific mechanics.

Hands-on Augmented Reality
With a simple scan, students project interactive 3D soil blocks directly into the classroom or field—manipulating microbial life, root systems, and water tables through spatial exploration.

Vocational Curriculum Integration (Yuverta)
Co-developed alongside leading agricultural educators to ensure every spatial interaction aligns with certified learning objectives, translating complex ecological theory into practical field mastery.
